Trails and Open Space

A network of trails and carefully located and planned open spaces interspersed throughout Three Sisters Mountain Village are an integral part of the experience for residents and visitors alike.

As a health, wellness and adventure-based resort community, a comprehensive interconnected system of trails and open spaces for recreation and transportation are central to the planning and development of Three Sisters Mountain Village. Eventually this network will focus on the core of the community in the resort centre.

Land use planning at Three Sisters Mountain Village carefully integrates formal and informal open spaces and a system of trails into the neighbourhoods we build, but equally as important, into the larger community and natural environments that surround us. Segments of Canmore’s extensive hiking and cycling trails will continue to be incorporated within the public open space system at Three Sisters Mountain Village, which in turn connect to the larger public open space systems within the town of Canmore and the Bow Valley.

Trail planning at Three Sisters Mountain Village is guided by the function and physical location of different trail types within a larger network. Trail systems are designed to offer exhilarating walking, hiking and interpretive experiences along a variety of routes, including internal water-edge areas and the Bow River while providing efficient transportation to key locations. Our trail planning efforts are guided by Town of Canmore policies and standards as well as our own guidelines developed specifically for the project.
